Application Form Rules « Thread Started on Apr 17, 2009, 12:40pm »
Please apply for a character by creating a new thread in the Pending Applications board. We have also added a section in the application to let the staff know if it is completed or not. All new applications should be posted as such: Character Name - Species - Alliance [Light/Dark]. Please make sure that your application title looks like that, otherwise the staff will ignore it.
The posting minimum for all sections (except for a few select ones) is at least ten(10) sentences, so please make sure that the important sections do not have anything under that, or you will be asked to add more. The RP sample must be at least 200 words or more, nothing less. Proper grammar and spelling are also expected throughout the entire application and will be pointed out if there is something wrong.
Application Rules
● All parts of the application are mandatory.
●Your application must be completely comprised of your own writing. It's perfectly fine if you would like to research parts of the application to help you write it, but do not copy and paste or the application will be automatically denied.
● No lists, please. The only section of the application that lists are accepted are in the section about family.
● Do not add colours or any other form of decoration to your application, or you will be asked to change them. Please stick to the default font colour and type.
● Main canons will be judged more strictly than secondary canons and original characters as they are the most important characters. If the staff asks you to change something, don't take it personally because it's nothing against you . We just want to ensure that the canons are given to people who understand them best, and will stick around. Good understanding leads to good RPing.
● We like to see canon's canon, as the process makes the staff see whether you have a grasp on the character. We already know the main things about the characters, and want to see how well the person applying for them does. It's up to you to be original, and not just give us things that we already know.
Application Sections Explained
PREVIOUS ROLES/EXPERIENCE: We don't just mean previous roles on this particular website, we mean all previous RPG site roles. This is mainly just to get an idea of how many characters you have played, how much experience you have had, and the level of RP that you're currently at.
APPEARANCE: Simply putting a picture will no longer suffice, though you can put a picture if you would like. Describe how the character looks, what kind of clothing he/she likes to wear, whether or not he/she wears make-up, etc.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Please do not use a list in this section, try and explain each strength and weakness. Things like why a strength or weakness is what it is, how the character shows that particular strength/weakness, and how they affect your character are all things to describe.
INTERESTS/HOBBIES: Pretty self-explanatory, these are things that interest your character, and things that he/she does in his/her spare time. Lists are also discouraged in this section.
SECRETS: Everyone has a secret, so what are your character's? This section is where you should describe secrets that your character holds that nobody else knows about.
PERSONALITY: Think about how your character treats others,
HISTORY: Think about your character's past, present, their home life, childhood, experiences, what aspects of their lives made them who they are today, etc.
SOMETHING UNIQUE: Simply point out something about your character that's different from others.
ROLE PLAY:This must be at least 200 words minimum. We prefer that they are written in character, but you may use an already written role play from another site as a different character, as long as it's written by you and only if it's absolutely necessary. If your RP sample is strong, you are more likely to get the part. Spelling and grammar mistakes will certainly not help you win the role, so please do use the spell check provided and double check your grammar for any run on sentences or comma splices.
